The 1001 Cup is an inter-university project that combines research, innovation, and sport in a sailing competition open to boats designed and built by university students. It is a valuable opportunity to activate and test new models of integrated education in the field, based on the interdisciplinarity of teams of faculty and students, as well as on the development of soft skills and managerial capabilities.

In the 2024–2025 season, the Polimi Sailing Team returned to compete with BAUSCIA, a prototype designed by the team in 2010 and subjected to an extensive refit, carried out with the aim of extending its service life, reducing environmental impact, and equipping it with modern tools for data collection and performance optimization. The work included structural restoration, optimization of appendages, a complete overhaul of the rigging, and the integration of sensors and data pipelines for performance analysis on the water.
