Descrizione dell'iniziativa

The course aims to provide an introductory overview of the space ecosystem and the space economy, with the goal of helping students understand how the space sector is evolving from a technological, industrial, and strategic perspective.
The course is deliberately focused more on the "space" context than on theoretical economic aspects: economic concepts are introduced only to the extent necessary to interpret the main business dynamics emerging in the sector.
During the lectures, the main players in the global and European space ecosystem will be introduced, along with the transformation of the sector in recent years with the emergence of new space, and the growing role of private companies alongside space agencies.
The space sector's value chain will also be illustrated, distinguishing between the development of space infrastructure and services based on satellite data.
A significant portion of the course is dedicated to the lunar economy, i.e., the renewed international interest in the exploration and use of the Moon. Through an overview of the lunar programs currently under development and the activities planned for the coming years, the potential technological and industrial opportunities related to future lunar missions will be discussed.
