Descrizione dell'iniziativa
The project aims to verify the "connections" between a context of the Milanese hinterland and Milan itself, with an intervention to define meta-design concepts for a system of spaces-infrastructures-products-services structuring the system itself. In particular, the users made up of commuters, such as our students and their families, who daily face the difficult path between residence outside the city and schools/universities and workplaces located in the central and peripheral urban fabric, will be taken as an example. The aim is to outline a contribution to a discussion on commuting and consequently on the traffic that afflicts our urban centers. The case study will be the Municipality of Cesano Maderno which, with its two stations (north and regional), constitutes a node through which about 40,000 people pass every day. The nodal point of the project will be the stations of the national and regional railway system, there as a point of interchange between the various modes of mobility, but also as a "new place" equipped with innovative services without forgetting retail and connections with the hospitality and residence system that can be identified in the area. The objectives are as follows:
- To produce general contributions for a new conception of commuting with particular regard to interchange points (parking lots, railway stations and subways)
- Outline a design strategy that concerns the case study of Cesano Maderno.
- Identify and design new spaces/services related to interchange points with reference to retail and residence/hospitality
