Criteri di selezione
The workshop accepts up to 16 students. Applications are reviewed and selected by the facilitators.
To apply, candidates must submit a single one-page document that includes both of the following:
1. Motivation Statement
A personal statement of no more than 250 words explaining what draws you to working on systemic-level design challenges.

2. Target System
A concrete example of a product, service, or system that you believe is locked in an outdated design logic. Describe it briefly: what it does, what world it was originally designed for, and why you think the gap between its original intent and current reality is worth investigating. This does not need to be your final workshop topic.

Selection priority is given to candidates who demonstrate curiosity about systemic structures, the ability to move between abstract analysis and concrete proposals, and who contribute to diversity of perspective within the group across programs, geographies, and backgrounds.

Descrizione dell'iniziativa

Many systems around us were designed for a world that no longer exists. While conditions and challenges change, systems with their underlying DNA hesitate to evolve. Whether it is changing economic orders that force ailing structures to be reconfigured, from rigid organizational settings to established economic systems, to new technologies that push for instance to allow ai capacities to enter in dated web architectures, to product-service-systems which need to respond to ESG requirements. Immigration and bureaucratic systems ask to be redesigned, private equity and M&A processes ask for new organizational design, evolving economies and local developments deliver new incentives and solutions, while established systems lag behind. How can we design and initiate overdue change processes?Students in this workshop will learn to read encodings, to identify what was designed, why, by whom, and for what. Then propose strategic interventions that redirect the system.
