Digital Education Hub - Higher Education

Edvance

Initiative

The Edvance project, the first Digital Education Hub for higher education dedicated to Advanced Digital Culture in Italy, is a scheme created within the ambit of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4 "Education and Research". Edvance is directed by the Politecnico di Milano, with 17 of the best universities and AFAMs in Italy taking part. The ambitious goal was to create a unique digital ecosystem by combining teaching content from all the institutions involved in the project. The Edvance platform was therefore launched, with the aim of publishing over 200 free online courses, leading to micro-credentials and open badges. The scheme is designed to help students, teachers and workers to develop advanced digital skills, with a particular focus on the fields of artificial intelligence, data management, digital sustainability and transdisciplinarity.

The project focuses on the production of high-quality MOOCs and blended learning, combining online and in-person teaching to reset the standards of digital education.

By the use of artificial intelligence, combined with humanities and creative disciplines, Edvance makes the learning experience more interactive and effective, reducing dropout rates and offering new resources for academic and professional pathways.

Edvance promotes modular teaching, allowing students and workers to build their own tailor-made pathways. By the system of micro-credentials, participants can accumulate particular skills that meet the needs of the labour market, and combine them to acquire formal certification.
