The Politecnico di Milano has introduced MyLearningTalk (MLT) to the classroom: a generative AI tool developed in a joint project by the METID Learning Innovation Task Force and the Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation Centre (AIRIC) of the Politecnico di Milano, coordinated by Prof. Nicola Gatti.

The tool is based on the logic of a conversation, and has been designed to enhance the learning experience at university. MLT gives students the opportunity to explore, deepen and consolidate their knowledge of particular aspects of their courses, carefully chosen by teachers. By means of dialogue, students can receive summaries, detailed explanations, examples, tests and personalised feedback, with links to relevant sources such as texts, handouts and videos for purposes of revision, comparison or further study.

MLT supports innovative learning methods that leverage the numerous opportunities offered by Large Language Models and by the many resources available, in order to respond to the complex challenges of the current environment.

• Personalised learning: the content and activities offered by MLT are designed to respond to the unique needs and interests of the individual, filling any gaps in learning and reinforcing skills.
• Autonomous learning: MLT provides the opportunity to explore the teaching material in an active and independent way, and discover more about topics of interest by means of interactive dialogue.
• Transdisciplinary learning: MLT encourages students to explore connections within the content of their particular course, but also links with other disciplines, to help them develop a global and well-integrated perspective.

The interaction takes place in the student's chosen language, while metaphors and examples are tailored to fit the user's stated preferences and interests.
