Experience Virtual Reality in the classroom for immersive learning

Leonardo Campus and Bovisa Campus

Virtual Reality Labs

Initiative

The Politecnico di Milano has set up two Virtual Reality (VR) labs as aids to learning, one on the Leonardo Campus and the other on the Bovisa Campus. Each lab is equipped with 15 VR workstations consisting of an Oculus Quest 2 headset, a controller and a desktop computer.

The area is divided into 15 individual workspaces, giving users the freedom of movement needed to make the immersive experience both comfortable and safe. Students can explore interactive virtual environments through their headsets, while the built-in audio speakers increase the sense of engagement. The controllers allow you to navigate and interact with virtual objects, and the haptic feedback makes the experience even more realistic.

The use of Virtual Reality in the classroom is vital for promoting innovation in education. It allows students to learn in a more engaging and practical way, breaking down the barriers between theory and application. The possibility of interacting directly with simulations and complex scenarios opens up new avenues for learning, making abstract concepts more accessible and improving teaching in technical and scientific disciplines.
