TOL score and assignment of OFA (additional educational obligations) for English
 

The maximum score that can be achieved is 100.00. It is expressed rounded to the second decimal point.

The minimum score obtained at the TOL taken in 2026, to be considered in the formulation of the ranking list, rounded to the nearest whole number, must be equal to or greater than 30/100.

The score is calculated automatically by assigning:

• 1 point for each correct answer
• - 0.25 points for each wrong answer
• 0 points for each answer not given

and by assigning

• ⅓ weight to each English question
• 2.6 weight to each question of Logic, Mathematics and Statistics
• 3 weight to each verbal Comprehension question
• 2 weight to each Physics question

The outcome of your test and the allocation of any OFAs (additional educational obligations ) for English will be published in your Online Services within 15 working days of taking the test. You will receive an e-mail informing you of the publication.

Click on the date you took the test to find out the score details.

Methods of assignment of OFAs (additional educational obligations)

The assignment of the OFA (additional educational obligations) for English for courses delivered in Italian occurs when, considering the English section alone, the number of correct answers is less than 24.

Enrolment with OFA (additional educational obligations) for English includes certain limitations regarding the presentation of the study plan.

Candidates enrolling on English-language courses must demonstrate their proficiency in the English language prior to enrolment, as indicated on the page Language Skills.

Alternative test score and conversion to TOL score
 

When recorded, alternative test scores to the TOL are converted into a score expressed in hundredths, according to methods and formulae defined by the Politecnico, in order to ensure equivalence with the TOL scores.

Formulation of rankings

Following the first phase of Enrolment for access to the second, third and fourth phases of enrolment, special rankings will be drawn up for the allocation of the available places calculated on the basis of the enrolments in the previous phases.

The rankings are drawn up on the basis of the best TOL score and alternative test score (converted into TOL score) recorded within the deadline and taken to the second decimal place, and on the basis of the preferences expressed by all Candidates.

Candidates' position in the ranking list is determined on the basis of their score, the places available for the Enrolment phase, and the order of preferences expressed.

In the event of a tie in the test score, the highest score obtained in the "Logic, Mathematics and Statistics" section of the TOL or of alternative tests (converted into TOL score) shall prevail. In the event of a further tie, the youngest student shall prevail. 

Outcomes

In each ranking you can be on a specific course in one of the following positions: 

• ASSIGNED:
  if you are on the highest-ranking course among those indicated by you in order of preference with places still available > you must enrol.
  If you do not enrol by the deadline and in the prescribed manner , it will be deemed that you have withdrawn. You will not be able to apply for inclusion in subsequent rankings and stages.
   
• BOOKED:
  if you are on the course that is not the highest ranked course among those indicated in your order of preference with places still available > you can either enrol or express your interest to be considered for the next ranking.
  If you do not enrol, or if you do not express your interest in being considered in the next ranking list within the deadline and in the manner provided, it will be deemed that you have withdrawn in the current phase, but you may request to be included in the next enrolment phase.
   
• PENDING:
  if you are not on any of the courses you have listed in order of preference because in the published ranking list the available places are already allocated or booked >you cannot enrol and you can express your interest in being considered for the next ranking list.
  If you do not express your interest in being considered in the next ranking list within the deadline and in the manner provided, it will be deemed that you have withdrawn in the current phase, but you may request to be included in the next enrolment phase.
   
• COURSE FULL:
  you will not be able to enrol at the Politecnico during this phase as the preferences indicated by you have no places available for the 2026/2027 academic year.
  In this position, you have the option of requesting to be taken into consideration in any subsequent stages of enrolment.

How do I express my interest to be considered in the following ranking:
Go to Online Services > Laurea (equivalent to a Bachelor of Science) and five-year single-cycle programmes: entrance or recovery tests and enrolment and click on "Registration in the Rankings and Change of Preference"

Taking into account the order of preferences expressed and the score you have obtained, your ranking positions will not be processed in relation to the preferences following the one for which you are eligible for enrolment, i.e. you are in the ASSIGNED or RESERVED position.
