Find out when to register for the TOL and for the alternative tests
Early TOL
If you are enrolled in the penultimate year of high school, and graduate in the 2026/2027 school year, you can take the EARLY TOL test.
You can take the EARLY TOL test twice, at most, once for each test session.
You may only retake it if you have obtained a test score, rounded to the nearest integer, of less than 75/100.
If you obtain a rounded score of 75/100 or higher, you will be eligible for enrolment in courses held in Italian for the A.Y. 2027/2028.

If you have already registered for a test, you can only proceed with a new registration after the publication date of the result of the test you have registered for.
Multiple simultaneous registrations for different test dates are not permitted.
Alternative tests
You can also take:
- the CISIA tests (TOLC-I, CEnT-S), according to the exam retake options provided by CISIA(www.cisiaonline.it);
- the SAT test(The SAT - SAT Suite | College Board)
Please note! In order to use these tests as an alternative to TOL, you must:
- have passed the test between 1 September 2025 and 31 July 2026 (included);
- have registered the result in the Politecnico's Online Services by 11:59 am (CEST) on 31 August 2026.

TOL standard
If you have already graduated or are enrolled in the final year of high school, and will graduate in the 2025/2026 school year, you can take the TOL STANDARD test.
You can take the TOL STANDARD test, at most, twice: once per session to improve your score, which will be used for ranking purposes.

Please note! To be able to use the alternative tests:
- TOLC-I or CEnT-S
- you must have passed the test between 1 September 2025 and 4 June 2026;
- you must have registered the outcome in the Politecnico di Milano’s Online Services by 11:59 am (CEST) on 4 June 2026.
- SAT
- you must have taken the test between 1 January 2025 and 4 May 2026;
- you must have registered the outcome in the Politecnico di Milano’s Online Services by 4 June 2026.

To register for the TOL, please register with the Politecnico's Online Services. Once you have obtained Person code and password, log in to your reserved area and follow the path described below: "Laurea Triennale (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) and Single-cycle Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science)" > "Test enrolment", then choose > TOL Engineering, and follow the online procedure.
For each test date, you can see in real time the dates, test times, remaining places available, and periods when you can register.
If you do not show up for a test for which you have registered, you will be considered absent, and the test will be deemed as taken for all purposes related to resitting it.
If you are an Italian student with a foreign qualification, you must follow the same enrolment procedure as Italian students, but you will also have to submit some additional documents to the International Students Office.
The outcome of your test and the allocation of any OFAs (additional educational obligations) for English will be visible in your Online Services within 15 working days of taking the test. You will receive an e-mail informing you of the publication.
