The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is an exam administered by the College Board.
The main sections are:
- Reading & Writing - text comprehension, grammar, analysis skills.
- Maths - algebra, arithmetic, maths problems, functions, basic geometry.

Admissions to the 2026/2027 academic year
Early enrolment phase
You can use the SAT test (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math sections, with at least 620 points in each), instead of the TOL, if you graduate in 2026.
You can enter the first phase of early enrolment from 4 May to 11 June 2026 and register:
- for the laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) programmes in Engineering held in Italian
- for the Civil Engineering laurea (equivalent to Bachelor of Science) programme delivered in English
Second, third and fourth stages of standard enrolment
You can use the SAT sections (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math) for the standard phases, even if you graduated in years prior to 2026, as long as the converted and rounded score is greater than or equal to 30/100.
SAT requirements for the early and later phases:
- sustained from 1 January 2025 until 4 May 2026
- registered by 11:59 am (CEST) on 4 June 2026
Go to the Online Services, select Lauree triennali e a ciclo unico (equivalent to Bachelor and Master of Science) programmes: admission or remedial test and enrolment > Alternative test registration. - Shared the results with the Politecnico di Milano via the College Board website.
To send your official SAT results (Official Score Report), you must have specified the Politecnico di Milano's code 7364 to the provider (College Board).
If you do not register by the deadline, you can use your alternative test.
If you do not know your high school diploma score as yet, you can proceed with enrolment under conditions.
You will have until 10 September 2026 to enter your high school diploma score in your Online Services > Lauree triennali e a ciclo unico (equivalent to Bachelor and Master of Science) programmes: admission or remedial test and enrolment > enrolment.
Those who will know their high school diploma score after 10 September are requested to directly contact the Registrar's Office.

Admissions 2027/2028 - early entry courses held in Italian
You can use the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math as an alternative to the TOL for Admission to the academic year 2027/2028, only in the early phase, if your converted and rounded score is greater than or equal to 75/100 for courses held in Italian.
There will be specific rankings for access to courses held in English.
The SAT alternative to TOL must be:
- taken from 1 September 2025 until 31 August 2026
- registered by 11:59 am (CEST) on 31 August 2026
