Services
Geckomile enables eCommerce merchants to display real-time estimates of the environmental impact of different delivery options at checkout, guiding users towards informed, responsible and sustainable purchasing decisions. The estimates provided by Geckomile are based on the calculation of emissions generated by the activities and infrastructure required to deliver an eCommerce parcel. Emissions vary from one delivery to another, depending on several factors, such as the location of the warehouse of origin, the destination postcode, the courier used and the weight of the parcel.
Activities
Geckomile estimates the expected emissions associated with the delivery of an eCommerce parcel, taking into account all the nodes (infrastructure) and transportation required, from dispatch at the merchant's warehouse to delivery to the end customer. This estimate is based on modelling the distribution networks of major couriers. A proprietary algorithm reconstructs the parcel's expected route based on its origin and destination, while the last-mile estimate is based on routing simulations for each postcode. The estimate is provided in real time to the merchant's website via API.
