BeviMi

Recycling plastic bottles

The BeviMI Project – “Mayor’s Water and Responsible Consumption”, conceived and proposed by the Italian Committee for the World Water Contract (CICMA), co-financed by Fondazione Cariplo under the “Plastic Challenge – Challenge to Single-Use Plastics” call, involved three universities in Milan: Politecnico di Milano (DICA_Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in collaboration with the University’s Environmental Sustainability Unit Unit), Università degli Studi di Milano, and Università degli Studi di Milano -Bicocca.

As part of the BeviMI project, an agreement was signed with CORIPET, which includes the free installation of an eco-compactor at each of the three universities, aimed at initiating the collection of PET plastic bottles for bottle-to-bottle recycling.

At the Politecnico, the eco-compactor was installed in Building B8  of the Durando Campus, in Bovisa.

As part of the BeviMI project, the guide "Beviamo in Sicurezza l’Acqua del rubinetto. Vademecum sull’uso, manutenzione e igiene delle nostre borracce" was created by CICMA, the Italian National Institute of Health, and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Rome Campus).
Knowing the characteristics of the different materials water bottles are made of (plastic, steel, aluminum, glass) allows us to use them correctly, ensuring adequate levels of safety, hygiene, and quality.
